Short answer: a lyric video generator should sync your lyrics to your song automatically. Of the tools we checked, Rotor and GetLyricVideo describe real automatic lyric syncing, StarSinger makes a beat-synced lyric video with karaoke captions (the first is free), and general editors such as Kapwing, VEED, Canva and CapCut only caption audio, so you fix the timing by hand. Updated October 14, 2026.
How we checked: prices and features below come from each vendor's own pricing, help or release-notes page, read on October 14, 2026. We did not render the same song in every tool, so this article says nothing about output quality. Anything we could not confirm on an official page is marked as unverified, and prices change often, so check the vendor before you pay.
Lyric video vs captioned video
The difference decides how much work you do. A lyric video generator takes a song and its lyrics and times each line to the vocal. A captioning tool transcribes speech and shows text; on sung vocals it often mishears words and needs manual correction. Several tools that appear in "lyric video" results are really captioning tools.

The tools in more detail
Rotor Videos: the most specific lyric-video product
Rotor describes AI that syncs typed lyrics to your song, offers a free preview, and says you own the finished video. It prices by credit, so work out the cost of one finished video before committing.
GetLyricVideo: built for the job, priced annually
GetLyricVideo detects lyrics or lets you paste them, and accepts your own audio. Its pricing is $190 a year for 800 credits, which suits regular releases more than a one-off. We could not confirm a free tier or its commercial terms.
StarSinger: the first lyric video is free
StarSinger turns a song into a beat-synced lyric video with karaoke captions. The first one is free and later ones are $1.99. It also accepts a song you already have (uploaded, or pasted from Suno, Udio, YouTube or SoundCloud, per its site) and makes the song itself if you do not. Limits: the output is vertical, and the videos carry small StarSinger branding unless you pay a one-time $4.99 to remove it.
Kapwing, VEED, Canva and CapCut: editors, not lyric generators
All four let you upload audio and add text, and they give you the most control. None of them syncs lyrics automatically in the way a lyric tool does. Kapwing's free exports are watermarked at 720p and limited to 4 minutes; VEED's free plan is watermarked at 720p. Canva's licensed popular music is for personal use only, which matters if the video will be monetised.

Rights: the part people skip
Any tool will let you put words on a song. None of them gives you the right to use someone else's song or lyrics. Kapwing says so explicitly: you must hold the rights to the music and the lyrics. If the song is yours, check the tool's terms for watermarks and commercial use. If it came from an AI generator, check that generator's terms as well; for example, Suno's free plan has no commercial rights (see can Suno make a music video?).
Which to choose
- Regular releases, automatic sync: Rotor or GetLyricVideo.
- One quick vertical lyric video, ideally free: StarSinger's free first video.
- Full manual control or a mix of footage and text: Kapwing, CapCut or Canva.
- A full music video, not just text: see the best AI music video generators.
