About

Who runs Stork, and how it pays for itself

We publish opinions about other people's products. You should know who's behind that, and where the money comes from, before you weigh any of it.

Stork.AI is an independent software company in San Francisco. It runs Stork Wire — a service that builds backlinks by publishing a real news section on a customer's own domain — and a directory of AI tools, agents and MCP servers in eight languages.

What we make

Two products and two things that support them. All four run off the same catalogue and the same measurement.

Stork Wire

A news section at your own address — yoursite.com/news — served through two lines of config. Vetted sites in the same market cover each other in real articles, so the links are earned coverage rather than placements.

The directory

AI tools, agents and MCP servers, reviewed and categorised, in English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.

The MCP meta-server

mcp.stork.ai/mcp — surfaces the catalogue inside Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code and Windsurf, so an agent can search it directly.

The API

The same catalogue as JSON, for people building on top of it.

Who runs it

Stork is independent and owner-operated. No outside funding, no parent company, no ad network, no agency retainer behind the editorial. That's the whole disclosure — there is nobody else whose interests you'd need to account for when you read a page here.

Support is answered by a person: support@stork.ai.

How we make money

Four ways, and all four are visible on the page where they apply.

  • Stork Wire subscriptionsThe main business. Recurring, from customers whose sites host a news section.free in beta · $99/mo at launch
  • Directory listingsA one-time fee to be listed. Waived entirely for tools carrying the Stork Verified badge.$49
  • Featured placementA labelled Sponsored slot above the browse grid. Never an editorial pick, never unlabelled.$29/wk
  • Sponsored editorialWe write our own verdict on a product that paid for the slot. Marked Sponsored; every outbound link carries rel="sponsored nofollow".$500

What paying us does not buy

  • A better verdict. Rankings and reviews are not for sale at any price, and no amount of spend changes a score.
  • A followed link from a badge. Badge and listing links are nofollow, always — that is not negotiable and not tier-dependent.
  • An unlabelled placement. If money changed hands, the page says so at the top, not in a footer.
  • A guaranteed spot in Wire. We turn domains away — gambling, thin affiliate, content farms — because a backlink is only worth the site behind it.

How the pages are written

Tool pages are drafted by models from the product's own site and public documentation, then checked against a fact-lint that flags claims the source doesn't support. Wire articles are written by named writer personas operated by our models, with human editors reviewing the output — disclosed on the writer's own page, on every article.

We get things wrong. Corrections are logged publicly at /errata, and you can write to us about any page. The method behind our AI-visibility scoring is at /methodology/aeo.
