What we check, and why it decides your AI visibility
Crawler access
One line in robots.txt decides whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended may read you. Plenty of sites blocked them in 2023 and forgot — and an engine that can't read you can only repeat what your competitors' comparison pages say.
Server-rendered text
Most AI crawlers don't run JavaScript. A client-rendered app shows them a blank shell — technically online, practically invisible. We measure exactly how much readable text your page serves before any script executes.
Structured data
JSON-LD is how you state facts — what the product is, what it costs, who makes it — in a form machines quote instead of guess. Engines answering “what does X cost” reach for it first.
Domain authority
AI engines lean on the same trust graph search does. We show your Domain Rating (by Ahrefs) so you know whether your problem is readability — fixable this week — or authority, which you build by being cited on established pages.

What does the check actually test?+
Four things, all mechanical: whether your robots.txt lets AI crawlers in (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended), whether your page serves readable text without running JavaScript, whether you ship a title, meta description and JSON-LD structured data, and your Ahrefs Domain Rating. No AI is involved in the check itself — these are the plumbing facts that decide whether AI engines can read you at all.
Does a good score mean ChatGPT will recommend my product?+
No, and anyone who promises that is selling you something. A good score means AI engines CAN read your site — it removes the disqualifiers. Whether they cite you depends on what other pages they trust say about you: directories, reviews, comparisons. That's the part you build over time.
Is it really free?+
Yes. The check costs us three small web requests, so there's no email gate and no paywall. Results are cached for 30 days per domain.
My site is a React/Next.js app — does that hurt?+
Only if it renders client-side. Most AI crawlers don't execute JavaScript, so a client-rendered app shows them a nearly empty page. Server-side rendering or prerendering fixes it — your framework almost certainly supports it already.
Should I block AI crawlers instead?+
If you sell to people who ask AI assistants for recommendations, blocking GPTBot means ChatGPT can only describe you from what other sites say. For a product site, that's usually a bad trade. Blocking is a reasonable choice for paywalled content — not for your marketing pages.
What do you do with my URL?+
We fetch your robots.txt and your homepage the way a crawler would, ask Ahrefs' public endpoint for your Domain Rating, and cache the result for 30 days. No login, no crawling beyond that one page, nothing published.
