overview

What Fabric does

Fabric is a personal and team cloud for notes, files, photos, videos, bookmarks and meetings, with an AI layer on top. Fabric says it organises what you save automatically, so you search by meaning instead of filing things into folders: search runs inside documents, inside audio and video transcripts, and even by colour or visual similarity, including across connected services. Named AI assistants can read your notes, draft replies, update tasks and build moodboards, and agents can run scheduled jobs; each AI gets its own email inbox, so you can forward things to it.

You use Fabric on the web, on iOS and Android, as a desktop app (which mounts Fabric as a drive and streams files on demand), through a Chrome web clipper and from a CLI. It includes an infinite canvas, a markdown notes editor, an AI meeting notetaker, tasks and Kanban boards, annotations and comments. Fabric lists 50+ integrations, including Google Drive, Gmail, Notion, Dropbox, Figma, Linear and Zapier, and says one subscription covers models from several labs, including Claude, Gemini and OpenAI. Spaces can be published to the web with no login needed for viewers, optionally password protected and with link analytics.

Yearly arithmetic: Plus costs $96 a year instead of $120 (20% less), Pro $216 instead of $288 (25% less), and Max $648 instead of $816 (about 21% less). The page headline says "Save 25% on a yearly plan" and the FAQ says yearly equals about 2 months free; the actual saving depends on the plan. Storage per dollar at yearly prices: Plus about 6.25GB per $1/month, Pro about 13.9GB, Max about 19GB.

AI usage is described in multiples (5x, 15x, 45x) and as "Light", "Moderate" and "Heavy"; Fabric does not publish an absolute unit. You can top up AI usage from Settings, with optional auto top-up and spending limits. The individual pricing page lists no Free plan, though sign-up is labelled "Try for $0". Fabric states it does not offer refunds, but you can cancel at any time. Major credit cards are accepted.

best for

Who Fabric is best for

Fabric suits people who save a lot of mixed material (PDFs, screenshots, links, recordings, notes) and would rather search it than organise it, and small teams that want one shared, searchable store with AI on top. The storage allowances (50GB to 1TB) also make it a partial replacement for a cloud drive.

If you mainly want structured docs and databases, Notion is the deeper editor. If you only want a calm visual bookmark library, mymind is narrower. If you want notes turned into a daily plan and tasks, Saner.AI is built around that. For object-based personal knowledge management, compare Capacities.

what users say

What users say

On the App Store, Fabric shows 4.6 out of 5 from 254 ratings; some reviewers praise the breadth of features, while others call the mobile interface dated and the font hard to read. Dupple's review highlights semantic search across files, transcripts and connected apps, and notes that Fabric is "opinionated about auto-organization", making it a weaker fit than Notion for heavy document editing or relational databases; it reports a G2 rating of 4.5 from 26 reviews as of September 2026. A review on the Saner.AI blog, written by a competitor, credits fast clipping and quick capture but reports inconsistent AI answers, sync complaints from long-term users, Discord-only support and the no-refund policy.

Is Fabric free?

Fabric's individual pricing page lists only paid plans (Plus, Pro, Max), although its sign-up button says "Try for $0" and the mobile apps are free to download with in-app purchases. The Teams plan has a 14-day free trial. Check the sign-up flow for what the $0 option currently includes.

Does Fabric offer refunds?

No. Fabric's pricing FAQ says it cannot offer refunds because storing and analysing data is costly, but you can cancel at any time.

Which AI models does Fabric use?

Fabric says one subscription gives access to models from several labs, including Claude, Gemini and OpenAI. Pro and higher plans list "all the latest AI models" and assistant web search.

Can Fabric replace my cloud drive?

Partly. Plans include 50GB (Plus), 250GB (Pro), 1TB (Max) or 2TB+ (Teams) of storage, and the desktop app mounts Fabric as a drive that streams files on demand. The comparison table lists file upload limits of 1GB on Plus and 5GB on higher plans.

What integrations does Fabric support?

Fabric lists 50+ integrations, including Google Drive, Gmail, Notion, Dropbox, Figma, Linear and Zapier, and says its AI can act inside connected apps, for example sending emails or creating tasks. It also offers a Chrome web clipper, a CLI and an API.

Fabric vs Notion: which should I pick?

Fabric is built around storing and searching mixed files, recordings and notes with AI, plus large storage allowances. Notion is stronger for structured docs, wikis and databases. Reviewers describe Fabric as more opinionated about automatic organisation.
