TL;DR / Key Takeaways
- Best likeness of the five apps we tested; no watermark on the HD export.
- HD needs the $6.99 weekly plan: 6,000 credits, or two 30-second HD clips a week.
- Yuna asked for a store rating before showing any output.
- Share Video was preselected; switch to Keep Private if the photo is not yours.
Verdict: Yuna made the video that looked most like the photo we gave it, in about eight minutes, with no watermark. The catch is the route there: it asked for a store rating before showing anything, its HD video needs the $6.99-a-week plan, and its publish option was set to share the video rather than keep it private. Tested on Google Play (US), October 16, 2026.
How we tested: on October 16, 2026 we installed each app from Google Play (US) on a Pixel 6 Pro and tried to make the same thing in each: a music video for the brief "a happy birthday song for my wife Anna", starring the same photo (an AI-generated portrait, not a real person). Apps that only animate a song you upload got the same finished track. We paid with our own money for Sondo, Yuna and Mozart. We did not buy a One More Shot video: we went through its free steps and recorded its prices. StarSinger's clip and full video were made the same day through the app's normal purchase flow; for StarSinger we report its listed one-time prices. Prices are what the apps showed us that day, before tax, and change often.
What Yuna is
Yuna (Google Play listing, App Store listing) turns a photo and a song you upload into a lip-synced music video. It does not write the song in the flow we used, so it got our finished track rather than a birthday song. On October 16 its App Store rating was 4.38 (2,946 ratings) and its Google Play rating 4.64 (63k ratings, 500k+ installs).
The path to one video
- A seven-screen quiz (your role, experience, genre, whose music), then a photo.
- A rating prompt before any output: "Help Us Grow by Rating Us", shown while the free "From Selfie to Superstar" teaser was still generating. The teaser then appeared blurred.
- Paywall: PRO Weekly $6.99, PRO+ Weekly $9.99, Elite Yearly $299.99. Closing it granted 500 free credits.
- Create: upload the song, pick a 30 to 60 second section or Full, lip sync on, add the photo, a persona and an optional prompt.
- Scene plan: Yuna's agent wrote five scenes and named the singer Anna, describing the outfit from our photo.
- Quality: Draft 1,500 credits or HD 3,000. HD required PRO, so we bought the $6.99 weekly plan, which added 6,000 credits. The HD video rendered in about eight minutes.
What $6.99 bought
| Yuna result | |
|---|---|
| Length | 30 seconds |
| Resolution | 704x1280 |
| Watermark | None |
| Likeness to the photo | Best in our test: face, hair, scarf and jacket held |
| Follows the brief | Yes: birthday cake, desert road, a car |
| Render time | About 8 minutes |
| Videos per weekly plan | Two 30 s HD clips (6,000 / 3,000 credits) |
This is the result to beat on likeness. Across the 30 seconds the woman on screen stays recognisably the person in the photo, wearing what she wore in it. The limit is length: 30 seconds of HD uses half a week's credits, so a full-song HD video means more credits or a higher plan, and we did not price that path.
Two defaults to check
- Sharing. The Share and Get Featured option was set to Share Video, which "submits your video to our editors" for the Explore page. Keep Private is one tap away. If the photo is of someone else, change it.
- Renewal. $6.99 is a weekly plan that renews until you cancel it in Google Play. Over a month that is about $30.

Where Yuna wins and loses
- Wins: best likeness in our test; no watermark on HD; fast; the scene plan followed our brief.
- Loses: rating request before value; weekly plan needed for HD; 30 seconds per 3,000 credits; sharing preselected; it animates your song rather than writing one.
Alternatives
- Pay once instead of weekly, similar likeness, shorter clip: Yuna vs Mozart.
- A full-length video with a song written for you: Sondo vs Yuna, or StarSinger (one-time $19.99, weaker likeness).

Frequently asked questions
How much does Yuna cost?
On Google Play US on October 16, 2026 its paywall showed PRO Weekly $6.99, PRO+ Weekly $9.99 and Elite Yearly $299.99. The $6.99 plan added 6,000 credits; a 30-second HD video cost 3,000 credits and a draft 1,500.
Is Yuna free?
Closing the paywall gave 500 free credits, which is not enough for a 1,500-credit draft or a 3,000-credit HD video. In our test HD required the PRO plan.
Does Yuna keep your face?
Yes, best of the five apps we tested with the same photo: the face, hair and outfit held across the clip.
Are Yuna videos public?
In our test the publishing option was set to Share Video, which submits the video to Yuna's editors for its Explore page. You can switch it to Keep Private before generating.
Does Yuna add a watermark?
Our paid HD export had no watermark, and the create screen offered a No Watermark option.
