TL;DR / Key Takeaways
- $4.99 bought a 20-second clip with strong likeness, the cheapest first video in our test.
- Downloading it asked for a PRO subscription from $5.99 a week: about $10.98 to keep the file.
- Full-song video: 360 credits, about $60 at the clip rate.
- Upsells at each step, including a $99.99 bundle over the player.
Verdict: Mozart sold us the cheapest first music video in our test, as a one-time purchase: $4.99 for 20 seconds. The likeness was strong. But after paying, the Download button asked for a PRO subscription (from $5.99 a week), and a "20 Video Bundle" offer for $99.99 covered the player. To keep the clip you paid for, budget about $10.98. Tested on Google Play (US), October 16, 2026.
How we tested: on October 16, 2026 we installed each app from Google Play (US) on a Pixel 6 Pro and tried to make the same thing in each: a music video for the brief "a happy birthday song for my wife Anna", starring the same photo (an AI-generated portrait, not a real person). Apps that only animate a song you upload got the same finished track. We paid with our own money for Sondo, Yuna and Mozart. We did not buy a One More Shot video: we went through its free steps and recorded its prices. StarSinger's clip and full video were made the same day through the app's normal purchase flow; for StarSinger we report its listed one-time prices. Prices are what the apps showed us that day, before tax, and change often.
What Mozart is
Mozart (Google Play listing, App Store listing) is mainly an AI song generator with voice covers; "Photo to Music Video" is one feature among several. We tested only the video feature, with our uploaded track, so this review says nothing about its songs. On October 16 its App Store rating was 4.31 (31,476 ratings) and its Google Play rating 3.81 (89k ratings, 1M+ installs).
The path to one video
- Onboarding paywall after four intro screens: 1 Week $5.99, 1 Year $39.99, Lifetime $59.99.
- Login offer: "Connect now and earn 1 free song". We signed in with Google; the free-song counter we saw showed 0.
- Video tab: upload a photo, align the face, pick a song (samples or your own upload), pick a scene and aspect ratio.
- Price by length: 20 s for $4.99 (30 credits), 60 s for $14.99 (90 credits), the full song for 360 credits. A weekly $29.99 "Video Pack" was preselected as "Best value".
- Consent: prompts and media go to OpenAI, Google Gemini and fal.ai.
- Paid $4.99 for the 20-second one-time option.
What $4.99 bought
| Mozart result | |
|---|---|
| Length | 20 seconds |
| Scenes | One (a street crowd) |
| Likeness to the photo | Strong face match; outfit changed |
| Download | Locked: Download Video asked for PRO |
| After paying | A $99.99 "20 Video Bundle" offer over the player |
| Resolution | Not measured (could not download) |
The face is the best thing here: alongside Yuna, Mozart held the photo's face most closely of the five apps. It kept the hair and swapped the outfit for a leather jacket. The clip is a single scene, so there is less to go wrong. What we could not do was save it: we recorded the screen to keep a copy. If you want the file, the real price is the $4.99 plus a PRO plan.
Where Mozart wins and loses
- Wins: one-time price for a short clip; strong likeness; simple flow.
- Loses: download needs a subscription after you pay; full-song video is about $60 at the clip rate; upsells at every step (onboarding paywall, preselected weekly pack, $99.99 bundle).
Reviewers notice the layering. One Google Play reviewer wrote in August 2026: "Ridiculously over priced $14.00 for a 60 second clip, on top of the $5.00+ weekly subscription." That is one person's experience; more in Weekly subscription traps in AI music apps.
