3Priced per glyph: 100 free, about 95 per Latin weight

Stork's verdict on YoFont

YoFont is the rare AI tool that makes real, multi-script font files; budget for Pro if the font is for client or product work.

overview

What YoFont does

YoFont generates complete typefaces. You can describe a font (mood, era, use), upload a logo, poster or sign to rebuild its lettering, photograph a filled-in handwriting sheet, or import an existing TTF or OTF to add languages. YoFont says it draws each glyph with a generative model, reconstructs vector outlines and assembles real font binaries, in up to three weights (Thin, Regular, Bold). Its FAQ claims up to 60 languages across 9 writing systems in one family, including Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

In the Studio you can regenerate a single character with a follow-up prompt or adjust it by hand, per weight and per language. Finished fonts download as TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 or embed from YoFont's CDN with a CSS snippet. There is also a font finder that identifies fonts from an image, a marketplace of fonts by other authors, a Figma plugin, and an API and MCP server that let assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor generate a font inside a chat. YoFont is run by YoSpace LLC.

One glyph is one character in one weight; YoFont says a full Latin set in one weight is about 95 glyphs. The higher-quality models cost more: Spinoza uses 3x glyphs and Nietzsche 5x. On Pro, one Latin weight on Epicur costs about $0.36 ($19 / 5,000 x 95), or about $1.08 on Spinoza. Top-up glyphs cost $0.015 each on Starter, $0.01 on Pro and $0.008 on Studio, and never expire; monthly glyphs reset each cycle. Annual billing is 20% off. Fonts by other authors in the marketplace sell from about $9 each, or unlock through a per-author subscription of $10 a month, $96 a year or $290 once.

best for

Who YoFont is best for

YoFont suits designers, small brands and app makers who want a custom display or handwriting font, especially one that has to cover Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew or CJK as well as Latin, which most font tools leave out. Pro is the realistic entry point for client or product work, because Free and Starter are personal use only.

For body text in professional products, a typeface drawn and spaced by a type designer is still safer; YoFont's own launch post admits kerning and complex ligatures can need manual tuning. If you only want your handwriting as a font, Calligraphr and WriteMyFont are simpler. For lettering inside an image rather than a font file, an image model such as Ideogram is enough.

what users say

What users say

YoFont is new and has little third-party feedback. Its Product Hunt page, launched in November 2025, had no reviews when checked, and Capterra lists it without ratings. In a Product Hunt post, its maker says complex ligatures can be stubborn, rare generations need manual review and automatic kerning sometimes needs tuning. Try the 100 free glyphs before buying.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YoFont cost?

Free gives 100 glyphs on a new account. Starter is $9 a month for 500 glyphs, Pro $19 for 5,000 and Studio $49 for 15,000, with 20% off annually. Commercial use starts on Pro. See yofont.com/plans.

Is YoFont free?

Your first font is free: new accounts get 100 glyphs, enough for about one Latin weight, with no card. Free fonts are public and the Free plan does not include downloads; Starter adds personal downloads.

Can YoFont create a real font file?

Yes. YoFont builds vector outlines and exports installable TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 files, or serves the font from its CDN. It is not a copy-paste Unicode text styler.

Can I use YoFont fonts commercially?

Only on Pro or Studio. Free and Starter are personal use. Fonts published by other authors in the marketplace need a purchase or a subscription to that author.

Can YoFont turn my handwriting into a font?

Yes. Fill in YoFont's handwriting sheet, photograph it, and it builds a font in that style, including languages you did not write.

What is a glyph in YoFont?

One drawn character in one weight. A full Latin alphabet with digits and punctuation in one weight is about 95 glyphs. The Spinoza model uses 3x glyphs and Nietzsche 5x.

Can ChatGPT or Claude make a font with YoFont?

Yes, through YoFont's MCP server, which exposes a generate_font tool to assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor. The plans page lists API and MCP access on Pro and Studio.
