Stork's verdict on FreePixel

FreePixel is a cheap stock-plus-AI bundle for occasional marketing graphics; serious product photography and large libraries are better served elsewhere.

overview

What FreePixel does

FreePixel is first a stock library: free and premium photos, vectors, illustrations, templates, 3D assets, icons, PNGs and mockups, organised into categories and seasonal collections. Free assets need attribution ("Designed by Freepixel" plus a link); premium assets need a subscription and no credit.

On top of the library sit browser-based AI tools: an AI image generator, background remover, background generator, product background (placing a product into a new scene), product mockup, face swap and cloth swap. They run in the browser with no download and draw on a shared pool of GenAI credits. FreePixel does not say which AI models power these tools.

Standard$12/month3,000 a month1,500Personal and commercial, print included
Business$35/month3,000 a month6,000Personal and commercial, unlimited print, products for resale

The AI image generator, background remover, background generator and face swap cost 1 credit per use; cloth swap costs 4. On Basic that is about $0.012 a credit ($6 / 500), on Standard $0.008 ($12 / 1,500) and on Business about $0.0058 ($35 / 6,000). Only the Business plan allows using assets in products for resale.

The main pricing page renders in the browser and could not be read, so this table comes from FreePixel's own help site. The homepage banner gives a different free allowance ("up to 25 images daily"), and the help site's subscription FAQ mentions 100 premium downloads a day; check the live checkout before buying.

best for

Who FreePixel is best for

FreePixel suits small marketing teams and designers who already download stock graphics and want a few AI tools (cutouts, product scenes, mockups) under the same low monthly fee. The Basic plan is cheap for occasional commercial use.

It is not a dedicated product-photo studio. Sellers who need on-model shots, ghost mannequins or batch catalogue editing should look at Blend or Photoroom. For a far larger stock and AI suite, compare Freepik, a separate company with a similar name.

what users say

What users say

There is little independent feedback on FreePixel. Its Product Hunt listing for the text-to-image tool launched in August 2025 with a handful of followers, and Capterra lists the image generator without user reviews. No rated review base on G2 or Trustpilot was found. Searches for the name often return Freepik, so check which site a review is about.

Frequently asked questions

How much does FreePixel cost?

FreePixel's help site lists Basic at $6 a month (500 GenAI credits), Standard at $12 (1,500 credits) and Business at $35 (6,000 credits), each with 3,000 downloads a month. A free plan includes 250 downloads a month and 5 GenAI credits a day. See support.freepixel.com/pricing.

Is FreePixel free?

Partly. Free assets can be downloaded without paying but require attribution to FreePixel with a link, and the free plan is for personal use. Premium assets and commercial use need a paid plan.

Is FreePixel the same as Freepik?

No. FreePixel (freepixel.com) is a separate, much smaller stock and AI tools site. Freepik is a different company.

How many credits do FreePixel AI tools use?

The AI image generator, background remover, background generator and face swap each cost 1 credit per use. Cloth swap costs 4 credits.

Can I use FreePixel images commercially?

Yes on paid plans. Basic and Standard allow personal and commercial use but not products for resale; Business adds resale rights. Free downloads are personal use with attribution.

Do I need to credit FreePixel?

Free users must add "Designed by Freepixel" with a link to freepixel.com near the asset or in the footer. Premium subscribers do not need to attribute.
