overview

What Mathos AI does

Mathos AI solves math problems you type, photograph, upload as a PDF or speak, and breaks them into steps you can ask it to re-explain. You can choose a hint instead of the full solution. The AI Tutor watches your work on a whiteboard and points out mistakes as you make them, and video generation turns a solution into an animated walkthrough you can edit. An adaptive layer looks for the pattern behind problems you miss and fills in missing prerequisites; solutions can also become quizzes, flashcards and games. The footer lists a graphing calculator, Quiz Me, PDF Homework Helper and AI Whiteboard.

It runs in the browser and as an Android app; the Google Play listing is under the developer name MathGPTPro, the product's earlier name. Mathos AI is operated by MetaDigits.AI, Inc. of San Francisco according to its terms, and the homepage says it was backed by Y Combinator (Winter 2024). Plans name two model tiers, MathosPro ("Smart AI") and MathosMax ("Best Accuracy"); the site does not say which underlying large language models they use.

PrimeList $9.98/week; page currently shows $4.99/week; yearly $98.80/yr (about $1.90/week: $98.80 / 52)Everything in Basic, unlimited MathosMax, 30 video minutes/day, 20x PDF Helper quota, unlimited voice input

Paid plans start with a 3-day free trial; you are not charged if you cancel before it ends. The weekly view shows the $5.98 and $9.98 list prices struck through next to $2.99 and $4.99, without saying how long the lower price lasts. Billed weekly at list price, Basic would cost about $311 a year ($5.98 x 52), so the yearly plan is far cheaper if you will use it all year. The terms allow refunds in limited cases, such as a first purchase with no recorded usage within 30 days.

best for

Who Mathos AI is best for

Mathos AI suits students who want to understand math rather than just get an answer: the hint mode, whiteboard feedback and video walkthroughs are built for that. The free plan is usable without a card, so it is easy to try on a real assignment. Schools can buy seats with SSO and roster sync.

It is math-first. Students who need help across chemistry, biology or essays may prefer a general homework app such as Gauth or Solvely. For symbolic calculators with long-established step-by-step engines, Symbolab and Wolfram|Alpha are alternatives.

what users say

What users say

Independent reviews are thin. On Google Play the app is rated 4.6 from about 6,300 reviews with 1M+ installs. G2 showed no reviews at the time of checking. Accuracy claims in directory listings (for example "up to 17% higher accuracy" than other solvers) trace back to the vendor's own benchmarks, which are not published, so treat them as marketing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Mathos AI cost?

There is a free plan. Basic lists at $5.98 a week (shown at $2.99 a week at the time of checking) or $46.80 a year; Prime lists at $9.98 a week (shown at $4.99) or $98.80 a year. Enterprise is custom. Paid plans have a 3-day free trial. See mathos.ai/pricing.

Is Mathos AI free?

Yes. The free plan needs no card and includes limited MathosPro answers, 6 video minutes a day, limited image input, flashcards, quizzes and graphs.

Is Mathos AI the same as MathGPTPro?

The Android app's developer name on Google Play is MathGPTPro and its package name contains mathgptpro, so Mathos AI is the current name of that product. It is not the same as MathGPT or MathGPT.ai, which are separate products.

What is the difference between MathosPro and MathosMax?

They are the two model tiers in Mathos AI's plans. MathosPro is labelled "Smart AI" and is unlimited on Basic; MathosMax is labelled "Best Accuracy" and is capped at 100 uses a day on Basic and unlimited on Prime.

Can I cancel Mathos AI during the trial?

Yes. The pricing page says you will not be charged if you cancel before the 3-day trial ends. The terms ask you to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal, and App Store subscriptions must be cancelled in the App Store.

Does Mathos AI work for schools?

Yes. The Enterprise plan adds centralized admin and seat management, SSO and roster sync, usage analytics and volume licensing. Pricing is through sales.
