overview

What Gauth does

Gauth (formerly Gauthmath) takes a photo, screenshot or typed question and returns a step-by-step solution with "how" and "why" notes for each step. It covers math from algebra to calculus and statistics, plus physics, chemistry, biology, economics, business, literature and writing. When the AI is not enough, Gauth routes the question to its tutor service, which the homepage describes as 50k verified experts available 24/7 with solutions in as little as 5 minutes. Newer features include Gauth Atlas, which turns a topic into an explorable visual explainer, and Gauth Academy, which builds interactive AI courses.

Gauth runs on the web at gauth.com (gauthmath.com redirects there) and as apps for iOS and Android; the App Store lists 14 interface languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and Turkish. The App Store seller is GauthTech Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, and the US Terms of Service (last updated January 22, 2026) say the service for United States users is operated by TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. The App Store description says it is powered by "advanced multi-model AI" without naming models.

best for

Who Gauth is best for

Gauth suits high school and college students who want a fast photo solver across many subjects, with the option of a human tutor when the AI answer is not convincing. Its scale shows in the stores: 100M+ installs on Google Play and about 1.5 million ratings in the US App Store.

Pick something else if you mainly want to learn math rather than check answers: Khanmigo is built around hints instead of answers. If video walkthroughs from teachers matter more than AI text, Numerade is built on video. If you only need algebra and calculus steps, Symbolab or Photomath are narrower and well established.

what users say

What users say

App store ratings are high: 4.8 from about 1.5 million ratings on the US App Store and 4.8 from 2.23 million reviews on Google Play. Trustpilot is much harsher at 2.3 from 86 reviews, mostly 1-star; recent complaints there include having to watch ads to see an answer and wrong answers that a student relied on in an exam. Independent write-ups such as this review describe it as solid on routine textbook problems and weaker on proofs and unusual formats.
