TL;DR / Key Takeaways
- Netlify has four plans: Free ($0, 300 credits/month, hard limit), Personal ($9, 1,000 credits), Pro ($20, 3,000 credits, unlimited members) and Enterprise (custom).
- Credits pay for production deploys (15 each), bandwidth (20 per GB), compute (10 per GB-hour), web requests (2 per 10,000) and AI inference (180 per $1 of model usage).
- Deploy previews, branch deploys, failed deploys and form submissions are not charged credits, per Netlify's docs.
- When credits run out, Netlify's docs say all web projects pause and show a Site not available page, unless you turn on auto recharge (500 credits for $5 on Personal, 1,500 for $10 on Pro).
- Bandwidth is the line to watch: Pro's 3,000 credits equal 150 GB if spent on nothing else.
Short answer: Netlify pricing is credit-based. Free is $0 with 300 credits a month (hard limit), Personal is $9 a month for 1,000 credits, Pro is $20 a month for 3,000 credits with unlimited team members, and Enterprise is custom. A production deploy costs 15 credits and each GB of bandwidth 20, so a small site with modest traffic fits on Pro, while bandwidth-heavy sites can need extra credit packs at $10 per 1,500.
How we checked: we read netlify.com/pricing and Netlify's docs on credit-based plans and how credits work, then converted credits into deploys, gigabytes and dollars ourselves. Prices checked on each vendor's own pricing page on November 1, 2026. Some links are affiliate links: if you sign up, the vendor may pay us a commission at no cost to you. It never changes our picks.

What each action costs in Netlify credits
| Metered item | Credits | Dollars at Pro pack rate ($10 / 1,500) | Dollars at Personal pack rate ($5 / 500) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Production deploy | 15 per deploy | $0.10 | $0.15 |
| Web bandwidth | 20 per GB | $0.13 per GB | $0.20 per GB |
| Compute (functions, preview server, Agent Runners, database) | 10 per GB-hour | $0.07 per GB-hour | $0.10 per GB-hour |
| Web requests (includes edge functions) | 2 per 10,000 | $0.013 per 10,000 | $0.02 per 10,000 |

| AI inference (Agent Runners, AI Gateway) | 180 per $1 of model usage | about $1.20 per $1 | $1.80 per $1 |
| Form submissions | Free, unlimited | $0 | $0 |
| Deploy previews, branch deploys, failed deploys | Not metered | $0 | $0 |
What each plan buys, in plain units
Credits are easier to reason about once converted. If you spent a plan's whole allowance on a single item:
| Plan | Production deploys only | Bandwidth only | Web requests only | Compute only |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free (300) | 20 | 15 GB | 1.5M | 30 GB-hours |
| Personal (1,000) | 66 | 50 GB | 5M | 100 GB-hours |
| Pro (3,000) | 200 | 150 GB | 15M | 300 GB-hours |
In practice, bandwidth and deploys use most credits on a typical site. A team that pushes to production 10 times a day uses about 4,500 credits a month on deploys alone (300 deploys x 15), more than Pro includes. Deploy previews are free, so reviewing changes on preview URLs and merging less often saves credits.
Netlify Free plan: what 300 credits covers
A personal site that deploys 4 times a month (60 credits), serves 10 GB (200 credits) and gets 100,000 requests (20 credits) uses 280 credits and stays free. Double the traffic to 20 GB and bandwidth alone needs 400 credits, so the site pauses before the month ends. There is no way to buy more credits on Free; you upgrade instead.
Personal vs Pro: which paid plan
Personal costs $9 for 1,000 credits, or $0.009 a credit, and extra packs cost $0.01 a credit. Pro costs $20 for 3,000 credits, or about $0.0067 a credit, with packs at the same rate. Our arithmetic on where they cross:
| Credits needed per month | Personal (with $5 packs) | Pro (with $10 packs) | Cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $9 | $20 | Personal |
| 1,500 | $14 | $20 | Personal |
| 2,000 | $19 | $20 | Personal, barely |
| 2,500 | $24 | $20 | Pro |
| 4,500 | $44 | $30 | Pro |
Above about 2,000 credits a month Pro is cheaper, and it adds unlimited members, private organization repos, shared environment variables, 3+ concurrent builds and 30-day analytics. Reviewers at ToolPick also note that legacy and credit-based pricing can differ by account age, so older accounts may still see a different plan.
AI usage on Netlify
Agent Runners and the AI Gateway are charged at 180 credits per $1 of model usage. At the Pro pack rate those 180 credits cost about $1.20, and at the Personal pack rate $1.80, by our arithmetic. Netlify lets a team set an AI Credit Usage Limit; once it is reached, agent runs stop, per its docs.

Worked example: a small site on Netlify
Assumptions, ours: 60 production deploys a month, 60 GB of bandwidth, 300,000 web requests and 150,000 function calls averaging 0.3 seconds at 1 GB of memory. Netlify's pricing page does not state function memory sizes, so the compute line is an estimate.
| Line | Arithmetic | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Production deploys | 60 x 15 | 900 |
| Bandwidth | 60 GB x 20 | 1,200 |
| Web requests | 300,000 / 10,000 x 2 | 60 |
| Compute | 150,000 x 0.3 s x 1 GB = 12.5 GB-hours x 10 | 125 |
| Total | 2,285 |
- Free (300 credits): not enough; the site would pause partway through the month.
- Personal ($9, 1,000 credits): 1,285 credits short, which is 3 packs of 500 with auto recharge ($15), so about $24, assuming packs are bought whole.
- Pro ($20, 3,000 credits): fits with 715 credits spare. Bill: $20, whatever the team size.
Now a content-heavy site: 500 GB of bandwidth, 2M requests and 30 deploys. That is 10,000 + 400 + 450 = 10,850 credits. Pro covers 3,000, leaving 7,850, which takes 6 packs of 1,500 ($60). Bill: about $80 a month. For the same traffic, Vercel Pro includes 1 TB of transfer, so Netlify is the more expensive host for this shape of site; see our Vercel vs Netlify comparison.
How to keep a Netlify bill predictable
- Decide what you prefer when credits run out: a paused site (auto recharge off, cost capped) or a bigger bill (auto recharge on, site stays up).
- Batch production deploys; each costs 15 credits whether you change one line or the whole site, while deploy previews cost nothing.
- Put large downloads and video on separate storage so they do not draw 20 credits per GB.
- On Pro plans with 5,000 or more monthly credits, unused credits roll over for one extra month; credits bought in packs also roll over, per Netlify's docs.
Who Netlify pricing suits
Pick Netlify Pro if you have several people deploying, because the $20 covers unlimited members, or if you want built-in forms, a managed Postgres database (Netlify Database) and blob storage without wiring in other services. Personal at $9 suits a solo developer with a couple of light sites.
Skip it, or compare carefully, if your site serves a lot of bandwidth (the content-site example above costs about $80 on Netlify), or if you need long-running servers and background workers, which Netlify's functions do not target; Railway and Render run those. If you are solo on Next.js with heavy traffic, Vercel Pro is often cheaper; our Vercel pricing breakdown has its rates. More hosts are compared in our Vercel and Netlify alternatives guide, and Netlify's features are summarized on its Stork page.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Netlify cost?
Netlify Free is $0 with 300 credits a month. Personal is $9 a month with 1,000 credits, Pro is $20 a month with 3,000 credits and unlimited members, and Enterprise is custom-priced. Extra credits come from auto recharge packs: 500 for $5 on Personal and 1,500 for $10 on Pro.
How do Netlify credits work?
Credits are a single usage currency. A production deploy costs 15 credits, 1 GB of bandwidth 20, 1 GB-hour of compute 10, 10,000 web requests 2, and AI inference 180 credits per $1 of model usage. Monthly credits reset each billing cycle; Pro plans with 5,000 or more monthly credits roll unused credits over for one month.
Is Netlify still free?
Yes. The Free plan costs $0 and includes 300 credits a month, unlimited deploy previews, custom domains with SSL, functions, Netlify Database and Blob storage. The 300 credits are a hard limit with no recharge option, which is about 20 production deploys or 15 GB of bandwidth if spent on one thing.
What happens when I run out of Netlify credits?
Netlify's How credits work page says that once your credit balance is used up, all of your web projects are paused and visitors see a Site not available page. On Personal and Pro you can avoid this with auto recharge, which is off by default; Free has a hard limit.
Do Netlify deploy previews cost credits?
No. Netlify's credit pricing docs list deploy previews, branch deploys and failed deploys as not metered by credits. Only production deploys cost 15 credits each. Form submissions are also free.
Is Netlify cheaper than Vercel?
It depends on team size and traffic. Netlify Pro is $20 a month with unlimited members, while Vercel Pro charges $20 per deploying seat, so teams often pay less on Netlify. Vercel Pro includes 1 TB of data transfer, so bandwidth-heavy sites usually pay less on Vercel.
